The California Assigned Risk Plan is required by state law.

CAARP (California Automobile Assigned Risk Plan) distributes high-risk drivers among all licensed insurers — meaning one of them is legally required to cover you. It's not charity. It's real insurance at higher-than-standard rates, and it's your right as a California resident.

Situations that lead drivers to CAARP.

DUI Conviction

Most standard carriers decline DUI drivers. CAARP requires an insurer to cover you.

Multiple Accidents

Two or more at-fault accidents in 3 years puts you in the high-risk category for most carriers.

No Prior Insurance

A lapse in coverage or no insurance history often triggers refusals from standard carriers.

License Suspension

A prior suspension, even if reinstated, can make it difficult to get standard coverage.

SR-22 Required

Many carriers won't write a policy if you need an SR-22. We combine SR-22 + CAARP same day.

Declined Elsewhere

If you've been turned down by at least one insurer, you may qualify for CAARP immediately.

High risk insurance answered.

How much more expensive is CAARP?
High-risk policies typically cost 50–300% more than standard depending on your history. A first DUI might add $1,200–$2,500/year. We'll give you exact numbers before you commit to anything.
How long will I need the high risk program?
Most high-risk designations run 3–5 years from the incident date. Once that window passes and you've maintained continuous coverage, you'll likely qualify for standard rates again.
Can you handle my SR-22 at the same visit?
Yes — we handle the CAARP enrollment and SR-22 filing together in one visit. Both done same day at any of our three California locations.
¿Hablan español?
Sí — all three locations have bilingual agents. You can handle the entire CAARP application and SR-22 process in Spanish. No interpreter needed.
Can I get insurance without a Social Security number?
Yes. We accept ITIN numbers and do not ask about immigration status. You have the right to be insured in California regardless of documentation status.
