An honest head-to-head comparison. Same coverage, different total cost. Here's what you actually save and what you actually get.
If you've shopped at Freeway Insurance, Fiesta Auto Insurance, or any of California's other large non-standard auto chains, you already know the experience. The single biggest dollar difference between us and the big chains is the broker fee. A broker fee is a separate charge — added on top of your insurance premium — that goes to the agency, not the insurance carrier. Freeway Insurance and Fiesta Auto Insurance both charge them as standard practice on their non-standard auto policies. The fee typically ranges from $50 to over $300 per new policy, sometimes again at renewal.
We do not charge broker fees on standard auto, home, or life insurance policies. Our income comes from the carrier commission alone. The total out-the-door price you pay is the insurance premium — period.
For a typical California driver paying $1,800/year on auto insurance, a $300 broker fee adds 16% to the real cost in year one. Over 3 years, that's nearly $1,000 extra you pay for the same coverage.

All three of us shop multiple carriers. The difference is independence and incentive. We don't have a parent company telling us which carrier to push first. We rank carriers purely by what gets you the lowest honest quote at the coverage you need.
Big chains optimize for transaction speed — get you in, get you out. We optimize for actually solving your problem. If you walk in needing SR-22, we do the SR-22. We also notice that you might need DMV registration, that your liability limits are dangerously low, that there's a multi-policy discount you're missing, and that your renters insurance is probably overpriced. Then we tell you. The visit takes 15 minutes instead of 5. You leave with the right coverage, not just any coverage.
To be fair: Freeway, Fiesta, and the bigger national chains do have advantages. We'll name them.
