An Independent Broker Works for You — Not One Carrier

A captive agent can only sell you one company's policies. We're independent — appointed with 40+ carriers — so we shop them all and place you where you fit best. Bilingual agents in Stockton, San Jose, and San Rafael. No broker fees on standard policies.

The Plain-English Answer

What Is an Independent Insurance Broker?

An independent insurance broker is a licensed agent who represents you, the customer, instead of one insurance company. We are appointed with dozens of carriers, so we take your information once, run it across 40+ companies, and place you with the one that actually fits your driving record, your home, and your budget.

Compare that to a captive agent — the agent who works for a single national insurance company. That agent can only offer you one company's product at one company's price. If that price is high or you get declined, you have to start over somewhere else. As an independent broker, the "somewhere else" is already inside our office. If one carrier raises your rate at renewal, we move you to another without you filling out everything again.

Via Rapida Services and Insurance City are the same independent brokerage — Insurance City Agency, LLC — serving California since 2013 from offices in Stockton, San Jose, and San Rafael.

Why It Pays Off

Why Going Independent Lowers Your Total Cost

Insurance carriers price the same driver very differently. One company may treat a past DUI, a lapse in coverage, or an ITIN-only file as a dealbreaker; another writes it without blinking. When you only talk to one company, you only see one of those prices. An independent broker sees many at once and lands you on the carrier that prices your situation the most fairly.

And because we don't charge a broker fee on standard auto, home, or life policies, the carrier's quote is your out-the-door price. The commission that pays us is already baked into the premium — it's there whether you use a broker or buy direct — so working with us doesn't add a cent. You simply get more options for the same money.

Questions People Ask

Independent Broker FAQ

Does an independent broker cost me more?
No. We don't charge a broker fee on standard auto, home, or life policies. Our pay comes from the carrier's commission, which is already part of the premium whether you use a broker or buy direct — so using us costs nothing extra and gets you many carriers at once.
Can you help if I've been declined or need an SR-22?
Yes. We work with high-risk and non-standard carriers alongside standard ones, so we can usually place drivers who were turned down elsewhere, need an SR-22 filed the same day, or have no prior U.S. insurance history.
Do I have to switch carriers every year?
No — but you don't have to overpay either. At renewal we can re-shop your file across our carriers. If your current company is still the best fit, you stay. If another fits better, we move you with no fee and no starting over.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes. Every agent at all three offices is bilingual in English and Spanish. ¡Hablamos español!
Do you accept ITIN numbers?
Yes. We accept ITIN numbers and do not ask about immigration status. You have the right to be insured in California regardless of documentation status.
